Dye-based dimming devices have better contrast ratio performance when using cholesteric liquid crystals than twisted nematic liquid crystals. However, there is a problem of light scattering when returning from the homeotropic state to the planar state. Therefore, we attempted to shorten the cloudiness time by using dual-frequency liquid crystal as the liquid crystal material. By applying a high-frequency voltage to force the liquid crystal back to the planar state, we succeeded in significantly shortening the opaque time.
