抄録

The azobenzene monolayer spontaneously develops a stripe pattern resulting from the in-plane rotation of molecular long axes in the thermal equilibrium state. When the constituent photochromic molecules are excited to undergo trans-cis photoisomerizations, the liquid crystalline Langmuir monolayer exhibits an anomalous reorientational response, followed by a generation of 2D traveling orientational waves.
