A phase-locking system is designed and developed to measure and compensate for the phase fluctuations in real time at an intermediate node. The performance of the compensated feedback loop is theoretically analyzed and simulated. Radio frequency generators and mixer emulate the lasers and interference plus photon counting processes to perform closed-loop verification without lasers. When the sum of the linewidths of the two emulated lasers is 1.175 kHz, the interference root-mean-square phase noise is suppressed from 1626° to 30°. A closed-loop phase noise of approximately 13° is expected for field experiments with the same laser linewidth and loop delay.
