This study aims to clarify the management status of older farmers with undetermined successors, farmers’ actions to downsize management, and their awareness of their retirement. Survey results revealed that older farmers tend to give up their farmland under unfavorable conditions and with low profitability, thereby downsize management. In addition, there is no expected age of retirement in farming, and the presence of potential successors increases farming motivation and achieves relatively high management results.
