Abstract
This paper explores the critical role of nitrogen fertilizers in crop rotation systems and identifies future research directions. Nitrogen fertilizers are essential not only for promoting crop growth and increasing yields but also for improving soil health. However, an imbalanced nitrogen supply can lead to environmental issues. To address these challenges, future research will focus on the application of precision fertilization technologies, the development of microbial growth promoters, crop variety improvement, optimization of ecological rotation systems, comprehensive assessment of the environmental impact of nitrogen fertilizers, the promotion of smart agriculture and data-driven management, and the exploration of nitrogen fertilizer alternatives. These research directions aim to enhance nitrogen use efficiency, reduce environmental burdens, and promote sustainable agricultural development.
