The experiment was carried out to investigate wether the ocular tissue which has strong sensitivity to many pathogenic organisms may offer a favorable media for the multiplication of the human and murine lepresy bacillus, indifferently to the race specificity of animals, to give rise to the leprous change, and to examine the influence of the trauma or the general infection upon the leprous change of the ocular tissue. The results obtained were as following :
1) The ocular tissue of rabbits, guinea pigs and white rats showed no specific affinity to the human and murine leprosy bacillus, exceeding the limits of race specificity.
2) The trauma given to the eye aggravated the disease, but no favorable effect was seen on the multiplication of bacilli.
3) The general infection of white rats inoculated with murine bacilli into the anterior chamber strengthened the leprous change and the multiplication of bacilli.
