The problem of decentralized robust control is considered for a class of large scale interconnected dynamical systems with unknown dead-zone structures. Here, the parameters which are determined by a dead-zone characteristic are assumed to be unknown, and the bounds of interconnections between subsystems are also assumed to be unknown. For such a uncertain large scale system, a class of decentralized adaptive sliding mode controllers is proposed by combining an adaptive sliding mode controller with some adaptation laws based on adaptive inverse approaches. The proposed decentralized controller can guarantee that the solution of a large scale system converges asymptotically to zero. Finally, a numerical example is given to demonstrate the validity of the results.
