On a routine angiocardibgraphic film, usually the lung fields appear to be too dark, that causes reading of details of peripheral blood vessels impossible. A compensating filter was devised to reduce the density of the lung fields. This filter was made aluminum, and attached to the radiation mouth.
When this filter was applied to angiocardiographic examination, the peripheral blood vessels were sufficiently seen as well as the heart and large vessels in and near the mediastinum. On the other hand, radiation dose to patients could be moderately reduced.
