Abstract
Preferred luminance of an LCD television screen was measured by the method of adjustment as a function of the average luminance level of a displayed image, the screen illuminance and angular screen size. The results showed that the preferred luminance of LCD television screens corresponds to the following formula: logPL=0.27logE-0.221ogSA-0.32logAL+2.4. This is where PL is the preferred luminance(cd/m^2) of LCD television screens,E is the screen illuminance (lx), SA is the angular screen size (deg) and AL is the average luminance level (%) of the displayed image.
