This paper identifies the effects of stakeholder engagement on human rights and environment-related issues. First, previous research is systematized, following which empirical analysis is conducted. The sample is based on cross sectional data of 1,096 Japanese corporations from 2017. A probit regression model is employed, wherein the dependent variable is whether the firm eagerly tackles human rights or environment issues. The results show that there are significant and positive correlations between stakeholder engagement and whether a firm eagerly tackles human rights or environment issues. Firm size is also shown to affect both types of issues.
