NHK, the Japan Broadcasting Corporation, has been producing educational Programs for over fifty years. Of these fifty years, I have been a producer, director and researcher for twenty-six years. Through my experience at NHK in these various capacities, I have come to certain conclusions about the merits of maintaining this educational system. In this paper I will discuss my subjective views of the merits of maintaining educational materials production within broadcasting stations.
