Development of Educational Broadcasting Learning Materials for the Digital Era : NHK Digital Learning Materials Sample Case(<Special Issue>New Percepectives for Broadcast Bducation in Japan in terms of its Historical Development)

Abstract

Classrooms around Japan will be connected to broadband networks by 2005. With this milestone in mind, NHK has begun developing digital learning materials to expand on its educational broadcasting to date. The philosophy behind this development is to supplement programs, which motivate learners with a solid story, with the capabilities of the internet and interactive materials. These learning materials, which were released in 2001, have been used in schools and have also been tested and evaluated in local server broadband environments. Development on these materials is ongoing.
