Hangzhou Xiaohe Street Community Center Design Based on Cultural Context

"Cultural Context" refers to the dialogue and the intrinsic link between the various elements, namely a kind of cultural context from a narrow sense. Chinas urbanization process to speed up in recent years. The city have lost its own characteristics since some buildings have been pulled down. The unique character of the inner city but no longer significant, standardized and modular urban space is replacing the city's personality and the differences between cities, thousands of city side of the signs are everywhere. The continuity of the urban form is threatened. The context, carrier of the memory of a city, is in serious need of protection. However, protection does not mean reject everything stiffly. In the times of such a high speed development, respecting context is not equivalent to getting so bogged down by conservative tradition. On the contrary, entrusting the profound ideological connotations and the abundant life-oriented features consciously can be helpful for the compatible existence of old and new buildings. And the harmonious mosaic of them will also be conducive to the further inheritance of historical context. This design, based on cultural context, attempts to build a new community center in the historical environment of Hangzhou Xiaohe Street
