As walking demand increases according to recent socioeconomic changes toward better health and quality of life, various approaches have been globally taken to evaluating walkability. While the walkability evaluation in practice is mostly made based on walking distance of street network, there is a lack of consideration for comprehensive walking needs of spatial quality. The evaluation for the various needs requires the walking experience of internationally-diverse street environments and the recent technologies of virtual reality(VR) could contribute to it. Accordingly, this paper introduces the attemptive approach to the walkability evaluation using VR for the international comparison of street environments.
