Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze and clarify current status of IT (information technology) use at nursing homes. Reducing the burden on a caregiver and maintaining the level of care services at nursing homes by using IT is one of the critical issues for the aging population in Japan. Empirical data from 494 caregivers at 19 nursing homes is analyzed. Results indicate that IT use in nursing homes affect lightening caregivers' burden, managing a record of care operations, and communicating with other caregivers and medical experts by a confirmatory factor analysis model. Furthermore, willingness of IT use has an influence on documentation of care operations and improvement of care skills by structural equation modeling.
