Required Skills and Gender Gap in Career Choices

Abstract

In light of the rapid increase in the number of in-house lawyers in recent years, we conducted a survey to understand the background and specific career paths. We analyzed the skills required in the career path of in-house lawyers and the gender gap in career choices based on questionnaire results hold in 2021. As a result, it was found that in-house lawyers emphasized skills related to administrative work and organizational maintenance when changing jobs, and that the gender gap was small and mid-career workers and men tended to be more likely to be promoted to department manager or higher.
