The Long-billed Ringed Plover Charadrius placidus is one of the most common plovers breeding at the rivers from Hokkaido to Kyusyu in Japan, but there are very few wintering records especially in the northern region along the Sea of Japan. The author observed a small number of this species at the lotus field on Kanazawa city, Ishikawa Prefecture. In snowy season from 1975 to 1976, 9 birds in maxmum in study area were counted on 9 February 1975. It seems that they emigrated from the breeding sites to wintering areas because of looking after snow free foraging places.
