This paper is concerned with an analysis of backscattering of electromagnetic waves from a target moving along random rough surface (RRS). We apply the discrete ray tracing method (DRTM) to the backscattering problem in order to investigate the influence of the backscattering from a target above RRS on the radar cross section. Applying the Doppler shift to DRTM, we calculate the Doppler shifted field received at the radar. It is shown that we can detect the target more easily than other case by removing the non-Doppler-shifted backscattering.
