Cooperative wireless communications is an emerging technique of attaining diversity for devices that are incapable of harboring multiple antennae. The procedures involved in cooperation induce reduction in throughput which is against the need for increased data rate of wireless networks. In this paper, CSI based adaptive modulation is applied as an approach to avert throughput loss during cooperation. Comparisons of throughput and outage performances of our approach with AF and DF strategies when implementing adaptive modulation are performed. Simulation results also confirm the improvements.
