Power Quality (PQ) issues has gained considerable attentions recently due to the unbearable financial losses that they can instigated to the power consumers, as well as to the utility companies. Thus, the detection and localization of these PQ problems is very critical in order to analyze and mitigates them. This paper present the usage of Slantlet transform (SLT) to detect and extract features of PQ disturbances. SLT is an orthogonal discrete wavelet transform with two zero moments and with improved time localization. Several generated event signals have been tested on the proposed method to investigate its capability and effectiveness.
