Tsunami measurement is a project of great significance for coastal zones. In order to measure tsunami, height measurement of the sea wave is indispensable. In this paper, we propose a method using stereopsis and image processing technology to obtain the heights of waves. First we set a 3-D image measurement system including two cameras which are set vertically. Then we search congruent points of wave from two images using technique of template matching. Before searching, we first extract several waves out then get the approximate top and bottom of each wave. Finally, we calculate the waves’ height according to the principle of triangulation.
