As a way to achieve ultra-high recording density, HAMR is promising to reduce or eliminate the energy barrier for magnetization reversal by ultrafast heating. In the present study, nano-dots with perpendicular anisotropy satisfying practical thermal stability are focused, and atomic level spin dynamics in the linear reversal model was numerically investigated with atomistic simulations. Dependence of switching properties on temporary elevated temperature, related to the thermal pulse intensity, and thermal pulse duration were also systematically studied.
