We describe the development of a high voltage capacitor charger for pulsed power. As a pulsed power generator for industries and biologicals, besides a large average power charger, a charger compatible with small size, small average power and short charging time are required. Single forward type circuit was adopted as the charging system. As a switching device, a SiC-MOSFET was used; besides, the circuit was operated at 500 kHz to miniaturize the step-up transformer. Power energy was supplied from AC 100V. As a result, we were able to charge 1 kV with 440 μs for 1.12 µF capacitor.
