We have developed a rapid DNA detection method based on the dielectrophoresis (DEP) characteristic of DNA labeled microbeads. The DNA labeling of microbead will alter the surface conductance of microbead and result in the change of Clausius–Mossotti factor K of DEP.In former studies, we developed a new DNA detection method based on Re[K]. In this study, we focus on the Im[K], which theoretically will change more dramatically than Re[K] when DNA labeled on microbead. We proposed a new method for DNA detection based on traveling wave dielectrophoresis of microbead, which is based on the Im[K].
