Breath sensing using cavity ring-down spectroscopy (CRDS) method is attractive due to its real time sensing in addition to the capability of high sensitivity. Amplifier assisted CRDS is proposed to realize ppm-order gas sensing using optical waveguide with telecom wavelength band. The experimental results show the possibility of 10 ppm-order CH4 which is one of the disease marker for intestinal problems.
