This paper has investigated the characteristics of a reflecting polarizer with a metasurface structure which has oblique straight lines of contour to the sides of its rectangular unit cells. This effect suppresses an resonance of surfacewave yielding axial ratio (AR) deterioration. The proposed metasurface polarizer consists of a single layer of periodic structure with rectangular microstrip patches, a ground plane and a dielectric substrate. As a result, 3-dB AR bandwidth of 36.4% from 8.1 GHz to 11.7 GHz can be obtained at the center frequency of 9.9 GHz.
