Every Japanese child has the duty to study for at least nine years under the requirements of the Japanese Fundamental Law of Education. However, some children with long-term hospitalization because of decease/illness cannot pursue their education in the classroom.We designed an educational system, “KOCHI”, to provide a learning resource for children and to help their teachers, doctors, and parents monitor the patient’s educational and health condition during their hospital stay. “KOCHI” has both educational and communication components. Herein, we describe some of its functions.
