This paper proposes a dual-band polarization-switchable antenna on a double-layer dielectric substrate with three metal layers. A rectangular ring and rectangular patch are formed on the top and middle metal layers, respectively. The rectangular patch is fed by a microstrip line and acts as a 5.8-GHz band antenna. On the other hand, the rectangular ring is fed via the rectangular patch and acts as a 2.4-GHz band antenna. The characteristics of the proposed antenna are examined by simulation, and it is confirmed that the proposed concept can be achieved in a simple structure.
