Shortage of oxygen in the soil is generally considered to adversely affect germination and growth of most crop plants. However, we found that sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) responded uniquely among several crops to low oxygen supply during germination. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of low oxygen concentration during germination on its morpho-physiological characteristics and final yield.
