The present investigation was designed to make clear the effect of freezing the wash on characteristics of the clothes. Experiments were performed to compare the properties of the spun yarns that had been frozen fifty times repeatedly with those of a control.
The results obtained are as follows :
1. There is no significant difference in the breaking load, Young's modulus, twist angle and yarn diameter between the spun yarns in which freezing was repeated fifty times and the control which were treated similarly except for freezing.
2. From the experimental data, it is considered that the force exerted on fibers -the constituent of the spun yarn -when the water contained in the spun yarn freezes, is not great enough to bring the fibers to the fatigue limit.
From the results described above, we may conclude that the effect of the repeated freezing on characteristics of the spun yarn should be neglected.
