Rinsing is an important process in the textile washing. We used potassium chloride as a model substance to study the rinsing process of textile and measured the electric conductivity of its removed quantity from textile into water. These results were analyzed by the factors of diffusion in textile and convection of rinsing water.
The removal of salt by convection of rinsing water is related to textile thickness and increases as the thickness decrease. The removal by diffusion in textile is related to a packing factor textile and increases as a packing factor increases. Both stronger agitation and higher temperature in the rinsing process cause the diffusion distance in textile to decrease and the removal by convection to increase.
