Abstract
This investigation was carried out for the purpose of establishment of standard analytical method for hydrogen chloride in air, especially, in manufacturing districts. Conditions for collection of hydrogen chloride from air and analytical method for collected chloride in bubbler were studied. As the results of the experiments, the most suitable condition was found, that is, sample air was passed at the speed of 1∼3 L/min. through 10 ml of water in fritted glass bubbler (volume 50 ml). And, mercuric thiocyanate method was recognized as the most suitable method for collected chloride in the bubbler as the standard analytical method. Hydrogen chloride in air (above 0.05 ppm) was determined using 100 L of air by this method. In the case of using connecting tubings, glass tubing or vinyl chloride tubing showed the best result, but rubber tubing was not good because of adhesion of hydrogen chloride on the surface.
