Absorption and Fluorometric Analysis of Procaine with p-Dimethylaminobenzaldehyde

Abstract

The Schiff bases of p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde and aromatic primary amines exhibit a characteristic absorption maximum and emit fluorescence in ethanolic solution containing hydrochloric acid. Procaine in dental 2% procaine hydrochloride injection was determined by both colorimetric and fluorescence methods.
