Discussion was made about 10 cases of paroxysmal postural vertigo and nystagmus. 7 of these cases were completely cured, while the others were restored from their subjective symptoms but not from their spontaneous and or positional nystagmus.
Audiogram proved normal in 7 cases, but high-tone deafness in 2 cases and slight low-tone deafness in 1 case.
Caloric test showed normal calorigram in 4 cases, canal paresis of one or both sides of the ear in 4 cases and directional preponderance in 2 cases. The 3 patients whose spontaneous and or positional nystagmus was not cured had organic diseases such as Raynaud's disease, Atlas-assimilation with cirvical rib and a whiplash injury. It was concluded that if the patient who had normal hearing was not suffering from an organic disease in central nervous system, neck or circulatory system, postural vertigo and nystagmus would be completely cured. Théraptique (N-N-Dibutyl-N-N-Dicarboxy -Morpholid-Ethylendiamin; stimulant of respiratory center) was the most effective agent in treatment.
