The order-disorder transformation of β-brass is too rapid to keep the disordered lattice at room temperature,even by quenching. Though the first object of our experiment had been to find the third elements, which relaxed the transformation velocity, to treat this transformation as kinetic problem, and to calculate the relaxation time of β-brass transformation by extrapolating the third elements to zero per-cent of it, we could not find such an element.
On the other hand,we found that the stability of ordered lattice changed in accordance with the quantity and the kind of the elements added very largely, that is, Ni and Al increased the stability and Mn decreased it.
In discussion of experimental result, we calculated the ordering energy between Cu and Zn, Ni and Zn, Ni and Cu, Al and Zn and Al and Cu.
