This study is an attempt to estimate the current volume and the prospects of the Japanese "resort activities" in numerical terms based on the verifiable data obtained through a nationwide questionnaire survey. The exercise has revealed the following : - Roughly 30% of the total population is engaged in some forms of the "resort activities" in a year. The annual average participation in resort activities comes to 0.7 times/person. - The increase of the household income and the expansion of the holiday systems will play a dominant role in determining the future volume of the Japanese resort activities. - The volume of resort activities in Japan is estimated to reach 1.30 times of the current in the year 2000, and 1.37 times in the Year 2005.
