This study consists of an evaluation of the influence on metal artifacts of differences in various sequence parameters of spin echo(SE)imaging. A total of eight items were evaluated : frequency and phase encoding direction, data sampling bandwidth, matrix, FOV, gradient polarity, slice thickness, TE and magnetic field strength. The strength, direction and polarity of the frequency encoding gradient(readout gradient)substantially influenced metal artifacts. However, these parameters did not have an influence on the sampling interval(time). With spin echo(SE)imaging, TE had almost no influence on metal artifacts. Under the parameter settings which resulted in a high readout gradient, there was a reduction in metal artifacts.
