Abstract
This article examines the analytical results for willingness of manufacturers on Industry-University cooperative research using actual data which based on questionnaire survey to the chemical and machinery industry.
The results reveal that 1) manufacturers have great expectations and positive purposes to the academic science in the search for truth, 2) manufacturer's advantage of interaction with university is not only getting directly result which connected to their own business, and 3) manufacturers consider that it is the most troublesome problem for them to be in the long-term orientation of university faculties.
And this article indicates that 4) there is not so much difference between small-scale manufacturers and large-scale manufacturers in their purpose of research collaboration, as well as expectation and problem recognition, and 5) the difference by the industry's experience has a significant influence to their willingness on I/U cooperative research.
