This paper describes the effect of the cutting speed on the tool wear and the surface roughness of the Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic. This study was performed to examine the effect in the high speed range (500-2900 m/min), although the cutting F. R. P. was studied in the low speed range up to this time. The main results obtained are as follows :
(1) The shape's variation of cutting tool caused by wear is estimated by measuring the wear value in horizontal and relief face direction from the tool edge in orthogonal cutting.
(2) The wear of the cutting edge is increased in nearly proportion to the cutting speed.
(3) The chips are the crack types and the higher the cutting speed, the smaller the chips become.
(4) In general the surface roughness has a maximum value at the some cutting speed.
