Abstract
Canine generalized demodicosis (GD) is a refractory or intractable disease, and are often associated with concurrent disorders. In this study, we investigated relationship between the concurrent disorders and prognoses in 15 dogs with GD. Eleven of 15 GD dogs (73%) were purebred toy breeds. We observed concurrent disorders in 10 dogs (66.7%) with GD, and 5 cases seemed to be immuno-compromised due to the disorders such as Cushing's syndrome, chronic lymphocytic leukemia and hemangiosarcoma. All cases were treated with ivermectin (600 μg/kg, po, once a day) or weekly dip of 0.05% amitraz solution. The GD cases with concurrent disorders may be less curable compared with those without concurrent disorders.
