抄録

 The Global Sulphur Cap 2020, which regulates air pollutants emitted from ships, mandates the use of fuel oil with a sulphur content of 0.5% or less. It is expected that particulate matter (PM) emissions from ships will decrease, but it is still unknown how their chemical and toxicological properties will change. In this study, the mutagenicity of sampled soot and emitted PM, and the relationship with major PAHs and NPAHs were investigated with the aim of understanding harmful substances in the exhaust gas emitted into the atmosphere from ship engines fueled by heavy oil.As a result, both samples were found to be mutagenic. In addition, the analysis of NPAH adsorbed on PM indicated that three types of Dinitropyrene may contribute more to mutagenicity than 1-Nitropyrene.
