IN OUR INFORMATION SOCIETY, MASS MEDIA IS ONE OF THE IMPORTANT MEANS FOR THE PUBLIC TO BE FAMILIAR WITH ,AND DEVELOP THEIR IMAGES ON, A CERTAIN DISTRICT IN A LARGE METROPOLIS. THIS STUDY DEALS WITH "TOWN INFORMATIONS "(INFORMATIONS WHICH IS HELPFUL TO ENJOY ONESELF IN THE TOWN) IN REGIONAL JOURNALS, AND ANALYZES THEIR RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE VITALIZATION OF THE COMMERCIAL ACTIVITIES IN THE TOWNS. TOWN INFORMATIONS WERE CLASSIFIED INTO FOUR TYPES AND THE HISTORICAL ANALYSIS WAS GIVEN TO THE DISTRICT WHICH HAS BECOME FASHIONABLE OVER A LAST DECADE TO SEE THE RELATIONS BETWEEN THE TYPES OF INFORMATIONS APPEARED IN JOURNALS AND THE CHANGES OCCURED IN THE TOWN.
