THIS STUDY AIMS TO INVESTIGATE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF PASSENGERS.' PERCEPTION DURING THE PROCESS OF DAILY TRIPS. AS A RESULT IT IS FOUND THAT THE CONTENT OF INFORMATION WHICH PASSENGERS OBTAIN DURING THEIR TRIPS IS AFFECTED BY WHICH MODE THEY USE. FOR EXAMPLE PASSENGERS IN RAILWAY CARS OBTAIN MORE INFORMATION REGARDING THEIR SOCIETY THAN THOSE USING PRIVATE CARS. FEELINGS WHICH OCCUR DURING TRIPS ALSO REFLECT THE CHARACTERISTICS OF MODES, THUS SHARING A RAILWAY CAR WITH A CROSS SECTION OF THE POPULATION ALLOWS A PASSENGER TO EXPERIENCE A WIDE VARIETY OF FEELINGS.
