This study is focused on the functions of the open space which belong to elementary school's sites. Besides planning, establishment, maintenance and use of bio-top and landscape planning techniques are considered through the field surveys of sites and the investigations into the environmental awareness of bio-top in the sites. 48 elementary schools under the direct control Koto ward are selected for this study. The investigation are conduced on the teachers and schoolchildren. As the result the awareness of bio-top and many problems faced to the maintenance become clear. It is necessary to put the knowledge of bio-top to practical use in the landscape planning. It is very important to put the open spaces in good comfortable condition.
