The effects of active-carbon and kinetin upon the development of haploid plants from anthers were studied with 10 Nicotiana species. This work led to the production of haploid embryos of N. otophora, N. paniculata, N. glutinosa, N. rustica and N. tabacum which could be raised to mature, flowering plants.
