At the previous symposium 1), Kawai and Tamura reported the gas chromatographic method for determination of catecholamines in urine in the form of their trifluoroacetates. Using this method, we observed the excretion rate of free dopamine 2) in urine of one of the authors (K. I. 27 yrs. 47 kg). The excretion rate in the sleeping time was low in comparison with that in the daytime [TABLE II (d)]. The low value was maintained by fasting [TABLE I (b), 11 (c)]. The diets and exercise could not influence the rate [TABLE I (a)], but bathing appeared to promote the excretion [TABLE II (c)]. The most interesting was the constant excretion in the daytime on normal life [TABLE I (a)].
