Abstract

The purpose of this study is to quantitatively understand the impact of tourism projects on the destination using a logic model, with a view to supporting strategic tourism destination management. First, the impact of tourism projects is shown as a ripple process for Kamakura City. Qualitative factors are included in the process. Next, the causal relation among the factors in the ripple process is determined by a questionnaire using the numerical allocation method. We derive the tourism projects to realize the desired tourism destination. The recursive process is represented as a sum of infinite series of matrices. As a result, it was found that the influence of “uncovering the charm and value of Kamakura” and “balancing citizen's life and tourism” were significant.
