It is hoped that female researchers will become leading figures in future technology, but, the percentage of young women currently entering faculties of science and technology, here in Japan, is much lower than that seen in similar faculties, in other advanced countries. Niigata University is developing a lecture-series with a twist; it will be presented by a graduate student, for the express purpose of stimulating interest in Science and Technology among junior high school girls. From replies given to survey-questions, we analyzed the relationship between lectors’ gender and course-selection.
