Quality of software products deeply depends on the skills of individual software engineers. To assure that the engineers have a certain level of skills, organizational and systematic training programs are needed in addition to OJTs and self-development activities. We have developed an occupational ability development program called software engineers entry-level discipline course, to which any software engineer employed for between two and five years by Mitsubishi Electric group companies is required to apply. The group companies, which have various business processes, share a system to conduct, operate and maintain the unified training course. This paper describes our approach to the design and operation of this course.
