The graphing calculator can be used as a data collection device. Connection protocols with more than 50 kinds of sensors are incorporated as standard in it. By using the graphing calculator as a platform of engineering experiments, the students can concentrate at the original purpose of engineering experiments without being bothered by various procedures of sensor connection. In this paper, we consider educational effects in using the graphing calculator as a platform of engineering experiment and show that general-purpose sensor can be connected to the graphing calculator through the development of near-infrared spectrometer.
